Why would i be mad

hola February 12, 2009 02:37 PM

Why would i be mad

if i want to say "why would i be mad", can i just say "por que enfadaria"

is this formula correct:

"por que estaria enfadado"=why would i be mad="por que enfadaria"

Why would I be mad? = ¿Por qué estaría enojado?

You can substitute efadado, airado for enojado.

So to make something "would", all you do is add -ía? Is the ellos form ían?

Rusty February 12, 2009 04:43 PM

Your second sentence works.
¿Por qué estaría enfadado/-a? (Why would I be angry?)

The other sentence needs objects. For example, you could say this:
¿Por qué me enfadaría eso? (Why would that make me angry?)

Me enfada. = It makes me angry.
Me enfado. = I'm getting angry. (reflexive form)

Have a look at the conditional tense/mood. There are more than just two endings.

I think that the sentence would be say (Porque deveria de estar furioso).

Only I gave my own view point.

Yes. As Rusty explained, -ía is equivalent to would and is the conditional tense.

"Why would I be mad?"
"Por qué estaría (yo) enojado?"

"Por qué enfadaría...?"

"Why would (subject) get (someone) mad?

Rusty explained it excellently.

What I did here was to equate more or less at how you usually express yourself in your language. If you see, there are not many differences. :-)
