apertura - feminine noun (la) - opening. Look up apertura in the dictionary

La apertura del nuevo supermercado va a ser un gran evento en este pueblito.
The opening of the new supermarket is going to be a big event in this little town.

Does this only apply to an "opening" that is an event, or does it also apply to an "opening IN" something. Like an opening (aperture) in a camera lens? Or an "opening" between the trees in the forest?

Opening an account :good:
Entrance into the market :good:
Opening-up/openness :good:

Opening/Clearing in the woods :bad: (Use claro for that)

Thanks, Rusty - will you please give me an example of the "opening into a market" for this. You're saying it wouldn't be "puerta"?

For "opening into a market" you could use apertura or entrada.

I have confused now. the word Opening in and Opening without In meaning the same or both words are different.

"LA empresa ACME estudia su entrada en el mercado europeo."
"La dirección general de la empresa ACME estudia la apertura a nuevos mercados"

Apertura is translate as Opening?

Because I did a bit search at the website and other dictionaries and I got this results about the word Apertura
(Aperture). Does work this word for me?

Aperture tiene que ver con una cámara u otro instrumento óptico. Es el diámetro de la lente que limita la cantidad de luz que recibe. Si no trata del diámetro de una lente, se usa opening. :)

Apertura = opening.
Aperture es un tipo de opening. Se usa en inglés pero es una palabra muy
técnica. Se usa en lentes de cámeras y en asuntos médicos. Opening
es mucho más común y aperture no se usa en charla típica.

But Opening is not used when a super market open itself doors to the public.

There in that sentences is used opening in.

When a store opens its doors to the public for the first time, that is called an opening. Often the advertisers will use the words Grand Opening to announce the event.
Thereafter, the store is either open (for business) or closed (for business).
If the store closes permanently, that is called a closing. We say it is going out of business.

Apertura = Opening (of a business)

Abertura = opening as in a crack or an opening creating a space.....

Two separate words, similar in spelling and meaning but not interchangeable.

I don't know, according to the Rusty's answer the words are same in the spelling and meaning the same but does not used of the same way. As you could see there in the examples gave for the users.

The words are used in different situations.

I believe that they are merely usages of each region.

We were discussing apertura, not abertura. But, as you pointed out, one of the meanings for both of the words is opening. And, just as apertura and abertura can't be interchanged, neither can the contrasting meanings in English. We may use the same word for the opening of a business and the opening in rock, but we know by context which meaning is intended.

Rusty. I thought that the word Abertura is other thing.

Abertuda does not the same than Apertura. You are agree with it or not?
