capaz - adjective - capable, competent, fit, roomy, spacious. Look up capaz in the dictionary

El presidente de la compañía es capaz de tomar buenas decisiones y llevar adelante esta empresa.
The company president is capable of making good decisions and improving this business.

This may not be the appropriate place for this question, since it's slighly off topic. David - please let me know if you want it moved... :)

Anyway - my question is more about the sample sentence than about the word of the day. Will someone please break down the "llevar adelante" phrase for me? I don't quite follow how that becomes "improve"... Thanks!

llevar adelante algo (idiomatic expression)
= to carry something through
llevar a cabo algo (idiomatic expression)
= to carry something through (to bring about, to bring to pass)

It's OK to discuss the word of the day or the sentence's grammar/usage/vocabulary etc. What I have wanted to avoid in the past is cluttering up the thread by responding to the sample sentence. For example, if the sample sentence says "I like red" and you were to reply "Well, I like blue", that would be off-topic.

Rusty's translation is correct. I used my creative license to translate it loosely as "to improve".

Rusty and David are very right... "llevar/sacar adelante algo" gives the idea of something that will make progress thanks to one's decisions and actions, even through difficult times. So "to improve" is not a "loose translation", but a very accurate one actually. ;)
