broma - feminine noun (la) - joke, practical joke, prank, jest. Look up broma in the dictionary

Me hicieron una broma pesada y la verdad, me enojé.
They played a mean practical joke on me and to be honest, I got angry.

Why the machine translator uses the word played when in translate at Spanish is me hicieron. I guess that it should to be (They make me a joke), or (They did me a joke).

I though that play were jugar.:confused:

jugar a = to play (deportes, juegos)
tocar un instrumento = to play an instrument
hacerle una broma = to play a joke
poner la música = to play (the music)

That's why English is a difficult language.

People "play" jokes on other people.
