Music

What do you guys think of spanish/latin music? I used to listen just rock/heavy stuff before, but when i started working in latin-american bar where latino music sounds all the time, i got completely crazy about it, it's full of energy and some sort of positive thing, as well as it's is brilliant in its performance, i never thought that i'd be spending my nights dancing salsa and start performing some songs in spanish and just enjoy listening.. Can you share some bands and albums that are worth hearing? I'm now having Jarabe de Palo cd in my earphones and i absolutely love it!!

Re: Music

So you perform... do you sing or play an instrument?

Re: Music

sing, compose, play keyboards and bass. btw, what's the correct spanish word for play <an instrument>, is it tocar or tañer?

Re: Music

Hola Maria
Usually we say "tocar un instrumento (tocar la guitarra, tocar el bajo, tocar los teclados)"
tañer is a word we use generally for the harp (arpa) or guitar (la guitarra) or some cord instruments.
I'm not musician, so I don't know the exact difference.
For me tañer its playing with the cords of the instrument in a slow, gentle way

Re: Music

gracias sosia!
in chinese we also use different words depending on the kinda instrument, literally it's like "to strum" for guitars, "to stretch" or "to pull" for violins, "to beat" for drums and percussions etc..

anyone here fond of cuban jazz?:-)

Re: Music

we use tocar for all instruments.
And I don't know anything about jazz (less about cuban jazz)
