Brisingr
For the past few months, I've had my mind set on this book. It is the third book in the Inheritance Series, after Eragon and Eldest (written by Christiopher Paolini). I've read the first 2 books and I desperately want to read the final one. My school library says they have that book, and I placed a hold on it. This means that when it comes in (gets returned) I will be called down to get it. I placed a hold on it and STILL it haven't been returned. Someone must have checked it out and kept renewing it!
I'm always so nervous to go to the library and ask why it still haven't arrived. So soon I'm deciding to gather my courage and go to the library and ask. I have one little problem. How do you pronounce Brisingr? I feel weird trying to say it and no one understands me until I spell it out and explain what it is. |
I don't think that you have to worry about being embarrassed. I'm sure that lots of people can't say "Brisingr". (Which I don't know how to say, either!) If you TELL them that you don't know how to say it, but even still, you are very enthusiastic about reading the book ... they'll appreciate it. My mom's a librarian. I know these things. They're just happy that you love to read!!! :)

[BRIS-ing-gr]
Since this word isn't English, you'll end up explaining that it is the title of the third book in the Eragon series even if you do pronounce it correctly. The word means fire, and is the first word that Eragon learned of the fictional Ancient Language. If you have access to the Eragon movie, you can hear how he said it. Look here for many more words from the Ancient Language. |
Thanks! :) this will really help.

You're welcome!
