Holier than...

Holier than...

A few days ago I heard a sentence that I'm almost sure was a saying (¿? Lo que quiero decir es: Hace unos días oí una frase que estoy casi segura de que era un dicho). I don't remember the last words, but the beggining was "Hollyer than..."

I would like to remember it and to know the meaning.

Thanks :butterfly:

I believe the phrase you are looking for is holier-than-thou

It usually refers to the negative description of a self-righteous attitude someone holds.

Yes, the phrase holier-than-thou can be translated as más papista que el papa. Here are other ways it can be translated:
mojigato (e hipócrita), farisaico, puritano, santurrón en un grado exagerado

Why did you flagged some words in my previous post if I can see that my post is not as bad as seems it.

I'm just trying to help you improve your English. :)

 Ok! That was the meaning I heard the phrase with (¿? Este es el significado con el que escuché el dicho). But It's interesting to know other meanings of the saying, above all "más papista que el papa" that is very useful

And thanks for correcting my spelling mistakes, too. I heard it in an oral conversation and tried to write it.

That's what I did, when I was beginning to translate what I knew in Spanish to English.
