This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for April 18, 2009

encimar (verb) — to stack, stack up, put something on top of (something else), overlap. Look up encimar in the dictionary

Can you stack the chairs by the wall?

Okay switching to English so I can explain better.

Amontonar and apilar, for me is to put or place something in a pile. Not necessarily in order.

Encimar, for me is to stack things up in some type of order.

I know I could be wrong but that is how I have used those words before.

:hmm::hmm:

I can use the word stack in my follow examples.

I stacked my bed upon the table.

María José April 18, 2009 11:35 AM

Why would you do such a thing?:confused::confused::confused:

Elaina April 18, 2009 11:40 AM

Yeah Crotalito, why would you want to do something like that?

:thinking::confused:

I know encimar is used in Mexico. I guess it's not used in (any?) others. :)

It looks like you are right. I have only heard this from Mexican people. :)
