...tales tonterías
¿Como se dice en englés?
"...porque no estaban para tales tonterías." Gracias. Potter |
Hay muchas posibles traducciones:
...porque no estaban para tales tonterías ...because they were not in the mood for such drivel ...because they were not up for that kind of nonsense ...because they were not ready for hogwash like that ...because they were not about to put up with that kind of behavior (Welcome to the forums!) :) |
I have one question about this post.
The word thus meaning tales. I wanna be more explicit or smart with the question. |
Muchas gracias Tomisimo. That's the way I read it as well, but I could not find a translation for "tales"
Crotalito; Creo que tengo el mismo pregunta. No se que es la palabra "tales" in inglés. La palabra no esta en mí diccionarrio. I believe I have the same question. I don't know what the word "tales" is in english. The word is not in my dictionary. Potter |

Se que como tales politicas son explicitas espero que cambien por el bien del pueblo. I'm not sure about the translation at English, but I will try to translate the sentence. I know that as thus politics are very explicit, therefore I hope they change for the town. I hope this example can help you, I haven't idea about other example using the word tales but, I believe that my example is very explicit in every the built of the itself. |

También puedes decir: ¿Qué tal si vamos al cine? How about going to the cinema? ¿Qué tal si cenamos fuera esta noche? Why don't we have dinner out tonight? |

No creo en tal cosa / tales cosas I don't believe in such a thing /such things In Spain we use most semejante than tal No creo en cosas semejantes. |

In the first one you have said I don't believe in such a thing. No creo en tales cosas. But in the second one where you say that in Spain the people have the culture to use the word Than tal, I didn't know thus word, either I believe that it be correct use the word than because I don't find the relation between than and tal, they are both very different in itself build. If you are sure of the meaning of the word than, and I didn't find the word in the dictionary, then if you can give me more examples about it, I will be grateful with you. Thank you. |

En España usamos más "semejante" que "tal" No me gustan semejantes actitudes (also "tales actitudes" is used, of course) "Than" means "que" in English comparative. I'm older than you = soy mayor que tú |

I'm bigger than you. I have truster in Rodrigo than you. Theses are only examples written at English. It will be true? |
Quote:
Older = mayor, más viejo o más edad En español también usamos a veces "grande" en algunos lugares para decir "de más edad" No sé traducir muy bien "confío más en Rodrigo que en ti". |
Quote:
I rely more in Rodrigo than (in) you. Más = more, ...er :) |
Quote:
= I trust Rodrigo more than (I trust) you. |

As Rusty said, his translation is more accurate. Trust- confiar. |
why are you using englés but not inglés????
