He tratado varias formas de decirlo pero no se escuchan bien.

To miss can be translated into a lot of verbs, so I'm not sure if it could be:

Lo siento, me he olvidado de ti hoy
Lo sient, te he añorado hoy

or another thing :thinking:

I would say: Lamento que no tuve la oportunidad de verle (te) la última
vez.

I think that the phrase can interpreted if you consider the possibility to say, Te extraño mas hoy que nunca.

- Disculpa/perdona/qué pena/qué lástima/lo siento, no pude verte hoy.
- Lamento no haber podido verte hoy.
- Qué lástima que no haya podido verte hoy.

If the person you couldn't see came and left before you could see him/her:

- Lamento no haberte alcanzado hoy (antes de que te fueras).
- Qué lástima que no te haya podido ver hoy.

I don't grasp to find sence in the translation in English.

No es una traducción, es el planteamiento de una situación posible, crotalito.

La traducción de "If the person you couldn't see came and left before you could see him/her", sería "si la persona que no pudiste ver vino y se fue antes de que pudieras verla".

¿Quieres decir "I missed you today (like I missed the meeting) o "I missed you today (my friend/lover)"?
