Confused words
I'd like to give you a suggestion. Both English and Spanish speakers have some problems with words which are sometimes confused or even misused. Usually they're pair of words, such as: ser-estar, para-por, job-work, make-do, etc. I've seen there is a fixed thread about ser-estar.
My suggestion would be to create a new sub-forum somewhere, where these words (pair of words or maybe more than two), which are often confused and which make a trouble for learners, could be set. In this way, we could search for them easily. Or I think so. What do you think? |
hmmm that's an excellent idea!

Now, instead of having it made by other people, do it for and by yourself/selves. And the benefit will be that of a 100% :) |

There are a lot of ways for learning, but if the way is easy and funny, that would be the best way. :) |

Para-por son difíciles por/para mí (¿o es para?):D |

I didn't know you, English speakers, had a problem with para/por until the other day in one thread. I knew you had with ser/estar. So, thinking about it, I thought than surely there are more words which are a problem, sometimes. Spanish speakers also have several words with the same problem. That's because I opened this thread :) Looking examples or talking about these words, maybe help us to fix them in the memory. :) |

Hacemos una lista de la palabras Hacer- do/make For- para/por To be- ser/estar Understand- contender/comprender ¿Puedas pensar otros? :D |

"Contender" es pelear. :) Pero ¿cuál es la confusión para "understand"? En ese caso, entender y comprender son sinónimos. |
Yo añadiría work/job (trabajo o trabajar)
Y creo que todas las preposiciones :) Por ejemplo in/at I'm at a little village I'm in Madrid But am I in or at a town? Don't you have problems with "de"? Vengo de Barcelona (from Barcelona) Esta novela es de Cervantes (written by Cervantes) La mesa está hecha de madera (of wood, I think) Above/over, under/below, about/around, etc. A medida que las vas utilizando, van saliendo palabras y vas viendo que a veces no sabes usarlas bien. |

Podrían estar los tiempos y los modos verbales, también (por ejemplo). Todo aquello que nos haga dudar.
