Este refrán se usa mucho, para decir que nos desilusionamos, por ejemplo despues del calor torrido que está haciendo en la ciudad de Madrid, esta mañana el cielo estaba encapotado, parecía que iba a caer el diluvio, pero desafortunadamente, solo han caído 4 gotas. Todo mi gozo en un pozo, porque estaba contento de que iba a llover y apenas ha llovido.
Puede traducir alguien todo este comentario porque hay cosas que me gustaría saber en inglés. Por ejemplo lo de diferente color.

This saying is used a lot. It means that we are disappointed. For example:
after the heat wave we've been having in the city of Madrid, this morning
was cloudy and it seemed that we were in for a summer storm, but unfortunately about four drops fell (or unfortunately the storm blew over). My hopes went up in smoke /or wishes went down the drain,
because I was happy that is was going to rain and it hardly rained at all.
Can someone translate the commentary, because there are things I would like to know in English. For example the things I have written in a different color.
