Quedarse de piedra : quedarse de piedra es una expresión idiómatica que quiere decir quedarse con la boca abierta, sorprendido porque no se lo esperaba, no saber como reaccionar. In ENglish ?

to be stunned
to be shocked
to be astonished/amazed
to be confounded

to be speechless
to be dumbfounded (dumbstruck)
to be flabbergasted (gobsmacked)
to be jiggered

to drop one's jaw
I just sat there with my jaw on the ground.
= I was speechless.

The word is dumbfounded.-- as in I was dumbfounded when I heard that
she had been arrested for illegal weapons possesion.
You can also use I was stunned.

This is used, though not so much as a predicate adjective (subjective complement). It's used more commonly as an adjective.
It's the same as boquiabierto.

Here is an example of its use as a subjective complement:
John was open-mouthed (in awe/in shock) when he received the reward money.

Here's an example of its use as an adjective.
I stood in open-mouthed horror as I witnessed the accident.

The last sentence could also be said:
I stood gaping as I ...
