In English? To present somebody to society ???

To introduce somebody to society.

By the way -out of curiosity- is the term 'coming out' (to society, not out of the closet i.e. disclosing you are gay, that is) still used or is that oldfashioned?
But then I suppose the whole idea of ' being introduced to society' is a little oldfashioned.:p

And how about 'débutante' /'débutante balls' ? :)
