¿Alguien podría explicarme lo que eso dicho/ esta expressión quiere decir por favor?

Mi diccionario dice que petate = un hombre despreciable :confused:

¿Entonces es una persona muy despreciable? :)

No, "el mero petatero" es la persona más hábil, la de mayor rango o la más importante en un ambiente.

Un petate es un tapete tejido de palma, que se usa tendido en el suelo para dormir.
Aunque no sé cuál es la relación con "petatero" en este caso, nunca he escuchado "petate" como una persona despreciable. :thinking:

Bueno, mi diccionario no me dó esta palabra, 'petate' fue la única que fue un poquito parecida. :rolleyes:

Ahh ok!! I have been using the search-button (completely overlooked the bar above it..:o) and I couldn' t find anything when entering 'petatero' hence my thinking there was no related topic yet..

I will try to check both of them before posting something in future , hopefully that will reduce the number of 'already existing vocabulary' or topics.

No sé exactamente, lo he visto en un sitio - no estoy segura que estuvo un sitio mejicano, pero sí es muy posible. :)

Un petate en España sí es un tipo despreciable, o mejor un inútil.

A mí esa expresión me recuera a esta otra: cero, cero patatero (cuando te ibas a examinar de algo y no te sabías nada, o bien cuando recogías las notas) :D

Sí, hay que tener cuidado con lo que se dice. Tengo una amiga venezolana y siempre dice "agarrar" en lugar de "coger". A mí me suena raro eso de "agarrar", pero ella dice que "coger" en Venezuela significa "otra cosa"... :shh:
