Aguja
This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for August 13, 2009
aguja (feminine noun (la)) — needle. Look up aguja in the dictionary Se rompió tu camisa, pero la puedo arreglar con aguja e hilo. Your shirt is ripped, but I can fix it with a needle and thread. |
Es más difícil que buscar una aguja en un pajar= a needle in a haystack
|
*** I was gonna say that! :)

La aguja de una brújula siempre apunta al norte.

 No me gustan las inyecciones porque me hacen daño cuando me clavan la aguja
¿La aguja de la jeringuilla hipodérmica también es "needle"? |
Yeah. Also a needle. A hypodermic needle.
Pines also have needles instead of leaves. |
Stiletto shoes = Zapatos con tacón de aguja
|
Bob no le gustan las agujas a menos que sean para tejer:)

Well, maybe on the bed. When I was about 5 years old, my grandma who did all the darning on the bed left a needle on the bed. When I jumped onto the bed at bedtime, the needle became embedded in my knee. It had to be surgically removed. I will always remember that...... |

Why is "on" the bed instead of "in"? I mean, uno está en la cama, dentro de la cama, tapado con las sábanas, colcha, etc. I thought it was "in" the bed". Wouldn't be "on" the bed for something that is over it (a cushion, for instance) |

Las chinches.......are in the mattress Tu ropa está sobre la cama ...... your clothes are on the bed I guess a needle could be on or in depending on its location. |
