Carnicería
This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for August 30, 2009
carnicería (feminine noun (la)) — butcher shop. Look up carnicería in the dictionary ¿Puedes ir a la carnicería para comparar carne molida? Can you go to the butcher shop to buy some ground beef? |
Una carnicería es también una terrible matanza. La idea más similar en inglés yo creo que es slaughter.
|
And something else: In England people speak of minced meat, and in Spain we say carne picada.

Yo también usaría "carne molida".

Nunca me gustaba las carnicerías, siempre me encantan las pesquerías/pesqueras.;) Porque los pecs son del mar:P
¿cómo se dice fishery? Es dónde cortan los peces, como la carnicería. |
@Tacuba: As David said, "carne deshebrada" is fresh boiled and shredded meat and "machaca" is finely shredded dried meat.
@Bob: Places where they sell fish are called "pescaderías". |
