Ethnic Hungarians in Slovakia are planning to protest today in the city of Dunajska Streda against a law they say violates their basic human rights. Under a penalty of five to ten thousand Euros, as of today it will be a crime in Slovakia to use the Hungarian language in public places.

Es una locura que va en contra de los valores de la UE - Bruselas promueve el regionalismo. Seguro que acabe en el Tribunal Europeo de Derechos Humanos.

En cuanto a lo que podría lograr si no fuera así: dudo que cumpliera mucho. Donde vivo yo era prohibido hablar el valenciano en la calle durante 40 años - "¡Habla cristiano!" - pero cuando cayó la dictadura no tardó mucho en reaparecer en público.

Los húngaros que viven en Slovakia deben presentar su querella al los cortes en Bruselas, aunque me parece que Bruselas es capaz de juzgar en favor del pais y no a la minoría.
Ejemplo: En Italia, leí que todos los niños gitanos (y ningún bebé de otras rasas) nacidos tienen su huellos de dedos fichado por el gobierno. Bruselas determinó que está práctica es legal auque me parece que la práctica es puro racismo estilo época nazi.

It means to give birth to which is to give light to.
Give light to/ Give birth to an idea.
Ella dió luz a su hija esta mañana.

Just leave the French Quebecois away from that issue. Their case is different. They have their own culture, language to preserve.....

You're welcome. And remember that "dar a luz" is more used than "parir" (which sometimes is thought to be a bad word, although it isn't at all)

I was raised in a conservative family and I was taught that "dar a luz" is for humans and "parir" is for animals. Either they're right or wrong, culturally, it's good to be cautious knowing that there are people who find the use of "parir" for a woman is not acceptable. ;)
