Delete the topic (first post)

Delete the topic (first post)

I know it doesn't happen often and that you should be more careful, but if it does happen, I think you should be able to delete the post topic that you started. For example, I wanted to post a topic in General Chat today, and I wanted to add a poll. I was too quick and accidentally forgot to add a poll. Well, I made a new one that had a poll and I wanted to delete the one that did not have one, but I couldn't. I've come across that a few times. I was wondering if we could just delete it without waiting or telling the admins/mods to delete it...

I believe that power only has the moderator and the administrator of the website in this case, I could to see that Angelica and Rusty are moderators, but I believe that it's a good point, if you didn't like the post or the thread, you can be able to delete the post, I believe that you save time and specially the moderator doesn't needly has present during the act, therefore, I want to give you a vote in your view point.

We have a lot post and well, I believe that could to have something to privilege in the website at least delete my own post.

You believe ?

thank you :)

How about a little bit of a revision to your suggestion:

You can delete an entire thread if:
(1) YOU are the original poster,
(2) NO ONE ELSE has commented on your post, and
(3) You do so within a certain amount of time (say, 15 minutes or something like that).

How does that sound?

Jessica September 08, 2009 07:07 PM

 Excellent. How about decrease the time a bit?

laepelba September 08, 2009 07:08 PM

I was actually thinking about a much shorter time, but didn't want to appear inflexible. Truly, it should be a few minutes after you actually click "post". :)

Jessica September 08, 2009 07:40 PM

yes, I agree.

CrOtALiTo September 09, 2009 08:48 AM

Yes, I think the same, good points.

I believe that we should get sings of the users about this situation.

I believe that we should to have something special.

Jessica September 09, 2009 11:24 AM

something special? Like what?

CrOtALiTo September 09, 2009 12:46 PM

Well, I was thinking about permissions in the website.

I don't know as you said before, you can't delete your own post, but principally I believe that you have at least a permission in change the thread topic, and delete something of your own post, and you can make changes in the same post.

I don't know if you are agree with me or no, but I believe necessary this commentary.

Jessica September 09, 2009 02:21 PM

we're able to edit our first post, but not delete it

AngelicaDeAlquezar September 09, 2009 04:30 PM

I'd say there is nothing to worry about... if someone makes a mistake and wants the thread to be deleted, it will be deleted by some moderator on the user's request, so everything will be alright. :)

Jessica September 09, 2009 04:46 PM

I guess...but I still think it's better to do it yourself

CrOtALiTo September 09, 2009 06:51 PM

I agree with Sofia's comment.

Thanks, David - I'm not sure if it's technologically possible ... but I certainly wouldn't mind a do-over or a take-back once in a while on an original thread. :)

Jessica September 22, 2009 03:00 PM

agreed.

CrOtALiTo September 23, 2009 09:39 AM

Wel I guess that it will be easier that now, because so you'll can be able to delete the first post in the moment that you have created the thread, it supposes to be easy and very useful for the users hosted in the website..
Good idea.

Jessica September 23, 2009 11:22 AM

yes that is true
