Cae por su peso

ROBINDESBOIS September 13, 2009 03:06 AM

when something is very evident and needs no explanations, we say cae por su peso . IS there anything similar in English?

Ejemplo:

- Cómo sabes que no se pueden plantar árboles encima del tunel de la M30
- cae por su peso, porque las raices lo destruirían

' That/It speaks for itself'.

Ni que decir tiene = it goes without saying
It speaks for itself = cae de su propio peso

Maybe:
stands to reason

You know we can't plant trees above the tunnel.
Well, that stands to reason, the roots would destroy it.
