Te vas a enterar de lo que vale un peine
It´s a kind of reprimand . In ENGLISH?
|
I imagine you could use any kind of warning phrase in English. We don't have one that includes the word "comb" that I know of. A propósito, ¿qué tiene que ver un peine con una amenaza?
|
David, ¿tu madre nunca te amenazó con peinarte el pelo?
|
Jajjajajjajajaja

@David: Something apparently worthless will cost you much.
Our equivalents could be: "vas a saber lo que es amar a dios en tierra de indios" (politically incorrect, but common sentence); "vas a ver/saber lo que es bueno"... When coming from parents, those "warnings" are usually followed by slaps and smacks. |
I was doing some reading, and "peine" in this situation could refer to threatening with a firearm. See definition #4 here:

Also #7.
You'll find out what a strap is for. It seems like a phrase used back in the days when corporal punishment was acceptable. It's the kind of threat a stern nun or parent may have used toward misbehaving children. |
I think that´s a good one, POLI. Thanks.
