I am sorry to those of my Tomisimo friends who are in Spain. BUT, I must say that I am SOOOOOooooooooooooooo excited to see that a South American city has, for the first time, been awarded the honor of hosting the Olympics! Congratulations to RIO DE JANIERO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Here's Rio's Olympics website: http://www.rio2016.org.br/en/Default.aspx

Estaba cantado, nunca repiten continente.

I'm Spanish, but I don't mind. The only thing that worries me is that there will be a lot of people in Madrid who will lose their job.

CrOtALiTo October 03, 2009 11:00 AM

Irmamar.

Why did you say that the worries of this trouble is that people will loss their job?

Is there some trouble with the jobs out?

Tomisimo October 03, 2009 09:50 PM

Well, they lost the opportunity to have a lot of extra temporary jobs.

irmamar October 04, 2009 01:11 AM

Here, during the last years, a great amount of economy has been based on construction (and another sectors related to it). Now there are a lot of people who were working in construction unemployed.
In Madrid, about 70% of the buildings or infrastructures needed for Olympic Games were constructed, so there were many people working there. I don't know what will happen with the buildings and infrastructures that have been made, but if they aren't finished, all these people will be unemployed.
I'm thinking in the present, 2016 (or even 2020) is the future. Yes, I guess that the Games give wealth. But my country is in crisis now, I don't know in a few years.

CrOtALiTo October 04, 2009 01:13 PM

Perhaps David's comment has reason, because when a economy in he worldwide is losing the money of people in this world therefore then the jobs tend to fall the jobs in the industry and well just the there are a lot people that depend of thus jobs meanwhile they find another word in the city, I don't know, I believe to have something clear about the commentary that Irmamar said before about the jobs of Spain's people.

Then it happen here in my country more in this moment where the crisis is very hard with the jobs in my city and any city of the Republic Mexican, but well I believe that people of anyway and wherever will have to find any word that can give them something to earnings during this economic crisis.

Or arguably better: "A lot of people who were working in construction are now unemployed."
