No me mientes su nombre, nombrarla me produce urticaria

Widely used, It doesn´t need any explanations I guess. In English?

Title corrected from: Nome No me mientes su nombre, nombrarla me produce hurticaria.

@Robin: please type carefully and watch correct spelling when you write the thread titles. :)

The very mention of her name turns my stomach.
I think Latins say me da cólera.

I have a doubt off of this topic.

What hurticaria is?

poli October 07, 2009 10:24 AM

Urticaria en español y inglés es un picazón frecuentamente causado por una reaccion alergínica. En inglés( EEUU por lo menos) es un término que se usa casi esclucivamente en el campo de medicina. Otra gente no suele entenderlo.

I'm puzzled. All the above take mentir=to mention, but my dictionary only gives mentir=to lie.

@Perikles: The verb is "mentar", which is a synonym of "mencionar" or "nombrar".

Thanks for that - a new verb. I should have been able to work it out, if mientes is the 2nd s. subjunctive!!

What is 'I should have been able to work it out' in Spanish?
deberia haber poder resolverlo ?? sounds ridiculous.

AngelicaDeAlquezar October 08, 2009 08:38 AM

"I should have been able to work it out" could be:

· Debí haber podido resolverlo.
· Debería haber podido resolverlo.

Your past participle "been" is also a past participle in Spanish: "podido". :)

Thanks. I'm confusing languages, and using German grammar!
