My spanish teacher wants me to skip spanish 3

I just took spanish 2 in 8th grade in middle school, and now i'm currently in spanish 3, and getting very good grades.

Should I do it? Thanks in advance.

How easy is Spanish 3 for you right now? Do you have to study or do you already know everything?

Jessica October 08, 2009 03:21 PM

If you really want to, you can :)

Nothing we do is hard. I'm currently in a public school, and my spanish 2 at my private middle school was much harder.
And I have to study, yes, but only for vocab. I haven't really studied grammar.

Jessica October 08, 2009 04:25 PM

well, do you want to skip Spanish 3?

Ferlas October 08, 2009 05:16 PM

Yeah, it'd really help out with class rankings and stuff.

Is there a lot of grammar that I'd be missing? As well as vocab?

Jessica October 08, 2009 05:43 PM

Well I'm taking Spanish 2 (you must be very good at Spanish ;)) so I don't really know. maybe someone else knows? anyone?

Without a syllabus for the class, you won't be able to tell what you're going to miss out on. If the teacher has aptly assessed your abilities in Spanish and has suggested you don't need to take it, s/he must have a good reason. You need to ask your teacher these questions. We don't know the answer.

I'd see if you could possibly sit in on a Spanish 4 class or two and see if you feel totally lost. I'm sure they could at least let you look over some of the material from that class, to give you an idea of what you'd be getting in to.

I'm with Fazor. Check some classes, and if ou feel comfortable, go for it.
A higher level it's better if feel you good enough.
Greetings :D

Yes why not.

If you have learned the Spanish in your last grade, furthermore if you feeling able to continue with the next grades in your school, therefore I don't see the problem, and well it's good because it shows that you are able to learn the faster possible.

Please you continue with your learning.:)

Here's an idea-- skip the level, but keep the book or ask for a master list of all the vocab and grammar structures that would have been taught. Study all of that on your own to make sure you're ready for the next level.
