Mortuary Science
¿Cómo traducirías mortuary science al español? A una colega y a mí, se nos ha ocurrido ciencias funerarias.
Gracias. |
tanatorologia ? (Just a wild guess)

I suppose it shall be then "actividades mortuorias"... to all that has to do with funeral services, like embalming corpses and things like that. :)
I'm not sure it's called "science" here, because I have never seen that kind of studies available in any Mexican school. That's rather something learnt in the business that offer those services. Btw, Perikles, the word for thanatology is "tanatología". I've seen it used as the trascendental study of death; how human beings deal with it. :) |

transcendental Btw. :) |
Mortuary Science
Mortuary science is a major for students selecting a career as funeral directors and/or certified embalmers. Students take very specialized courses in the field, business management, psychology and human anatomy and biology. It has little to do with issues of criminal activity. That is left to forensic experts who have studied criminal laws, forensics.
Etymologically the term has more to do with thanathos, therefore tanatorología might fit in. Our students in basic Spanish will have a real hard time with the latter term. Gracias por las respuestas |
I've seen "ciencia mortuoria"

Our college offers a major in mortuary science. Students in that major take elective courses in the humanities. One of the units in Elementary Spanish 1 deals with careers and professions.
|
Ok, pero ¿por qué necesitan traducir el título del curso? "Estudio para ser director de pompas fúnebres" o "para ser embalsamador".
|
I suposse something like "master en gestión funeraria" for the funeral directors and "master en técnicas funerarias" for the certified embalmers. You can use"master","curso", "especialización", etc..
