Help with two sentences

Help with two sentences

#1. If I want to say, "After going downstairs to the dining room, he sits down at the table to eat breakfast."

Is this correct? Despues de bajar del comedor, él se sienta a la mesa para desayunarse.

I have been told that the use of desayunarse isn't correct--that I should only use desayunar. Yes o no?

#2. The sentence in English is: Your mother would not want you to smoke. Is this correct? Tu madre no querría que tú fumaras.

Thanks

Well, I would say.......
-Despues de bajar al comedor, él se sienta a desayunar.
---- I wouldn't use desayunarse in this sentence. Doesn't sound right but I have heard it used a lot before.

For the second sentence, my suggestion would be
-Tu madre no querrá que fumes.

Just as a variation.
-A tu madre no le gustaría que fumaras.
-Tu madre no quiere que fumes.

My :twocents:

Desayunarse would be to eat yourself for breakfast.

I think the same that said Pjt33.

It sounds more to you will eat yourself.

Beforehand, I telling you that it should be Desayunar instead of desayunarse.

Thanks for your consejos. Voy a desayunarme ahora.

You're welcome.

Have a good food or body.

A tu madre no le gustaría que fumaras. = Your mother would not like you to smoke.

Now would this be correct?

Your mother would not like (that) you smoked.

"Your mother would not like you to smoke" is grammatical but doesn't feel natural to me. I would be inclined to say something like "Your mother wouldn't be happy if she caught you smoking."
