Help with two sentences
#1. If I want to say, "After going downstairs to the dining room, he sits down at the table to eat breakfast."
Is this correct? Despues de bajar del comedor, él se sienta a la mesa para desayunarse. I have been told that the use of desayunarse isn't correct--that I should only use desayunar. Yes o no? #2. The sentence in English is: Your mother would not want you to smoke. Is this correct? Tu madre no querría que tú fumaras. Thanks |

-Despues de bajar al comedor, él se sienta a desayunar. ---- I wouldn't use desayunarse in this sentence. Doesn't sound right but I have heard it used a lot before. For the second sentence, my suggestion would be -Tu madre no querrá que fumes. Just as a variation. -A tu madre no le gustaría que fumaras. -Tu madre no quiere que fumes. My :twocents: |
Desayunarse would be to eat yourself for breakfast.

I think the same that said Pjt33.
It sounds more to you will eat yourself. Beforehand, I telling you that it should be Desayunar instead of desayunarse. |
Thanks for your consejos. Voy a desayunarme ahora.

Now would this be correct? Your mother would not like (that) you smoked. |
