"We will see each other soon"

"We will see each other soon"

I seem to have a problem with translating "each other". My attempt for the sentence "We will see each other soon" is...

Nos veremos pronto.
or
Nos veremos uno al otro pronto.

both are OK - also, simply 'nos vemos...'.

The sentence that you need to translate is literally translate into of the Spanish of the following way.

Nos veremos pronto.

Now in the second choice that yourself wrote in the post also it's correct.

"Nos vemos pronto" or "nos veremos pronto". "Each other" is not translated. :)

NiCACHiCA November 02, 2009 12:36 PM

so in this sentence you wouldn't need to say "each other" in Spanish (Is it implied)? Or, "each other" does not translate to Spanish? ...when would you use "uno al otro" and is that the equivalent to "each other"?

Usually, we don't say "el uno al otro", it's understood:

Los niños se lavan (each other, you could add "el uno al otro", but it's not common)

Nos vemos (we would never say "el uno al otro" here)

Nosotros nos felicitamos las Navidades (the same here, we'd never say el uno al otro)

Mi amigo y yo nos escribimos correos (the same, it's understood)

Maybe you could use "el uno al otro" to clarify a sentence. For instance:

- Las palabrotas que llegaron a soltar el otro día Juan y Pedro.
- ¿A quién?
- El uno al otro.

:)

And yes, there is another way of saying the same: "entre sí". But it has the same use :)

Then I'm wrong?

No, it's the same "nos vemos" or "nos veremos". There's no difference because sometimes the present is used to express the future :)

between/to themselves

una correción (de acuerdo a mi) y la traducción de "entre sí" :)

See you tomorrow = te veo mañana

I'll see you tomorrow = Te veré mañana.

Yo no felicito en las Navidades  . Yo felicito las Navidades. Digo: "Feliz Navidad". Pero aún quedan días ;)

CrOtALiTo November 02, 2009 03:58 PM

Ok, I will take in mind your commentaries, thank very much.

Aunque te entiendo, no te comprendo.... (here we go again) :D

ROBINDESBOIS November 02, 2009 05:18 PM

Se traduce por nos, o se .

Sancho Panther November 24, 2009 04:07 AM

Espero que volveremos a vernos pronto.

¡Más vale tarde que nunca!

AngelicaDeAlquezar November 24, 2009 08:53 AM

Tal vez sea una de tantas cuestiones regionales, pero yo diría "espero que volvamos a vernos pronto".

CrOtALiTo November 24, 2009 09:33 AM

I hope that we can see us soon.

It's literally the same that Angelica said before.
