Hola mis foreros:
I am so confused about why you use "se le llaman" and why?

Estos tipos de sacerdotes de vudú se le llaman "houngans."

Why couldn't you just say, "se llaman?" Isn't that the passive voice and doesn't it mean "are called"?

That would be the correct sentence.

If you said:

Esos sacerdotes se llaman... would be another sentence, with the meaning that "they call themselves..".

A ese tipo... /les would be the IO.
