This is about this: What does it mean?

This is a saying (a bit cruel) that means contempt, disdain (ni qué niño muerto)

:)

Perikles December 08, 2009 05:52 AM

Thanks - it's supposed to be a good film. :)

Can you guys put that in a sentence? I am a little confused.

Thanks,

Marsopa

It´s an expression of bad humour. For example:
You´re late and your mother says this is the last time and you say it was the bus, and your mother to mean I don´t care a fig, says que autobus ni que niño muerto or que autobus ni que ocho cuartos, to tell the truth it´s hardly used at all nowdays

"Ni qué _algo_" is a standard construction to emphasize disbelief and despise.

You didn't win the lotto, you're lying.

You're not going to the party. You never attend any party.

You didn't quit smoking. It smells like cigarrette smoke.

Qué vas a buscar trabajo ni qué ocho cuartos. Eres un perezoso.
You're not going to look for a job. You're lazy.

In other words- BS. :D

Marsopa December 08, 2009 12:43 PM

So...you just put in anything you want after "ni que?"

Sounds like you have to be pretty imaginative to use this idiom!

"Las arañas", "la mano del muerto", "niño muerto", "ocho cuartos", "nada" are the most comon ones, but there's a lot of room for getting creative.

(This is a common one too, but there are plenty of variations) :)

ROBINDESBOIS December 08, 2009 04:39 PM

JAJJAJAJA, that one is good.

CrOtALiTo December 08, 2009 05:59 PM

Or simply you can say Ni que nada.

It's at most the same that yours examples.
