One of my nephews found an old Eighth Ball toy and asked me what the reply "raise the stakes" means. :thinking:

I thought that toy only gave binary answers and had seen a few variations on yes and no, but this one confused me.

Is it some kind of "do more to make it happen" or something similar?

'To raise the stakes' means to increase one's commitment level or involvement. The saying is often used in poker games, as someone is pushing more money into the pot.
