Don't break the bank
¿Cómo diría "don't break the bank" en español? No estoy seguro si estará bien "hacer saltar la banca" porque no tiene nada que ver con juegos de azar.
En inglés quiere decir que uno gasta todo el dinero que uno tiene. Code:
(intransitive),(idiomatic) To exhaust one's financial resources. Gracias de antemano |
break + the bank = hacer saltar la banca, arruinarse, costar un dineral, costar muchísimo dinero
From here Though I understand that "hacer saltar la banca" is related to games of chance. :) |
¡No te lleves a la bancarrota!
|
Talking about people, I'd prefer "arruinarse". I think that "bancarrota" is used for companies.
|
ok. Gracias a los dos :)
|
You're welcome.
:) |
In Mexico, we would say "no te lo gastes todo" ("lo" refers to "el dinero"--the money)
or "no te gastes todo el dinero". :) |
The same here :). But when somebody "se arruina" he can lose not only the money, but also possessions (a house, a car, etc.)
|
In the end, "el dinero" is also what properties are worth. :)
One can also say "no te quedes sin nada". That would be more general too. |
