Arca
This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for January 8, 2010
arca (feminine noun (uses el in the singular, las in the plural)) — chest, box, coffer, ark, tank, reservoir. Look up arca in the dictionary Todos hemos escuchado la historia del Arca de Noé. We have all heard the story of Noah's Ark. |
Some people refer to their underarm as arca....
:p |
The RAE says (amongst many other things) in the definition for "arca" that there is a saying: "arca llena y arca vacía" which is defined "Alternativa de abundancia y escasez de dinero o de otras cosas."
Does this mean something like "alternating between abundance and scarcity of material things"? |
"Feast and famine" would be more idiomatic :p
