Estaban acostumbrados

Estaban acostumbrados

Please, what would be the best translation for:

Los niños estaban acostumbrados a que les contaras un cuento.

Thanks. :)

The children were used to hearing us tell them stories
You can also say: The children were accustomed to hearing us telling us stories (or tales).

¿Pero cómo pones el "tú"? Estaban acostumbrados a que tú les contaras un cuento. That's my problem

So: the children were accustomed to you telling them a story (tale?).

I guess "they were used you to tell them..." is not correct.

They (los niños) estaban acostumbrados a que tú (you, por ejemplo tú, Chileno) les contaras un cuento. :)

chileno February 10, 2010 12:12 PM

I'm sorry, I didn't notice.

Thanks, poli. :)

But Chileno's option is good enough, isn't it?

I'm a bit confused.

I believe the chileno may be mixing pronouns here(that Miapo Valley red wine it effecting him negatively no doubt--although moderate use is good for translation:lol:). I believe my second most recent translation (the children were used to you telling them stories) is the right one.

Chileno, what are you drinking?

I liked Chileno's translation

Many thanks, poli. :) :present:

I had to resort to that so that you can see it inyour mind.

...telling them stories :good:

...to tell them stories, I think it is grammatically correct, but not used...
