laptop battery

My laptop battery used to last 3 hours and now it only lasts about 20 min. Has anyone had this problem and what did you do?

If this is not the right place to post this, feel free to move it.

anyone?

How old is your battery?

Elaina:confused:

If you use your laptop with the battery but attached to the current, then your battery's life go down. If you work with the current, you must take the battery out.
can be this the case?
Other possible option it's age, like Elaina says.
Saludos :D

Laptop battery

Sosia is right. To prolong the life of the battery, each time you use it, you need to use it until it runs down, THEN plug it in. After it's charged, use just the battery again until it runs down.

I have found that most laptop batteries last about three years (depending on how often you use it), and they can be quite expensive to replace.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for that information Brenda, I really didn't know all that. I'll start doing what you say. I just know I don't want to pay in excess of $100 just for a new battery. One thing I've been doing too is plugging the laptop in and taking the battery out. I don't know if that's a good idea or not.

Laptop Battery

Hey cap1!

Glad I could help. Unfortunately, the cost of a battery will more than likely be in excess of $100. If you do buy one, I would highly recommend that you buy a brand new manufacturer's battery (don't get a third party battery). It should last longer and you won't risk messing up your laptop. I'm big into brand names on certain things - computer parts are at the top of the list.

Pulling out the battery while it's plugged in will help, however, not using the battery is just as bad for it as leaving it installed while using the AC adapter.

Hope that's helpful too!

For me this is the best option. You can use the battery sometimes in order to check it works OK.

The way bleitzow says it's also good, but I think it gives more work to the battery.

Greetings :D
