Pronunciation Questions
Is "gue" pronounced the same as "que" (as far as the "u" being silent)? Also, today I saw the word "desague" and it had the two horizontal dots over the "u". How does that affect the pronunciation of any letter or syllable?
Also, the audio on a website, when pronouncing words that had the "ie" diphong such as "fiesta", sounded as if there was an accent on the "e". Since there is no visual accent on this word, and many others like it, wouldn't this word sound like the typical two syllable word that has no accent. In other words, the "e" wouldn't be stressed any more than anything else. Gracias |

Hi ckc,
I didn't see this thread earlier or I would have responded. Here's the thread Elaina is talking about. It's got some great information. http://forums.tomisimo.org/showthread.php?t=637 |

Jessica, as explained earlier in the thread, the only difference between gue and que in the pronunciation of the first letter. Neither has an English w sound following the initial consonant.
