Help with a translation for a paper?

Hola a todos,
I'm writing a spanish paper for a class, and needed help with a certain phrase. Could you please help me? This is what I've written:

"La enfermedad más mortífera de los tiempos medievales posiblemente puede ayudar curar una de las enfermedades más letales de nuestro tiempo. "

The phrase I am having a lot of trouble with is "posiblemente puede ayudar curar". What I'm TRYING to say is: "possibly it could help to cure". I know I've translated it wrong though. Do I need to use the subjuntive with "poder"? Help!!

Gracias :)

You don't need the subjunctive, but conditional carries an implicit "possibly", so I'd get rid of "posiblemente" and say "...podría ayudar a curar...".

Well done! You're only missing a preposition after the verb ayudar.

¡Bienvenida a los foros!
