High and tall

Height and tall
 

There is a sentence which puzzles me a lot when I'm trying to translate it:

so wonderfully alike were they; the same height, the same build, the same features, the same slim, tall figures,

...las dos tan indescriptiblemente hermosas, como surgidas del mismo molde, tan maravillosamente parecidas eran; la misma altura, la misma constitución, los mismos rasgos, las mismas altas y delgadas siluetas...


Podría decir "idénticas/os" en lugar de "las mismas/os". :thinking:


But the question is wy "high" and "tall" in the same description?

Ah, but they are not. "Height" is there but not "high". "the same height" does not imply any particular great height, they could be dwarfs.

His height is 180 cms
He is 180 cms in height

Herbert's height is 100 cms
Fred's height is 120 cms
John's height is 120 cms
Dave's height is 190 cms

Fred and John are of the same height, but they are both taller than Herbert
Dave is taller than the others, and he is tall.

Thanks, I understand you. The question is that in Spanish height is 'altura' and 'tall' alto, which creates a certain redundancy in the sentence. :thinking:

I'm sorry but I have understood that the word Hight for describe something alto as a build or a wall, instead of tall for describe tallas in persons or clothe.:)

I wrote "high" instead of "height". The question is that I find a redundancy when I translate these words into "altura" and almost immediately "altas". Well, I can't waste my time just in a sentence. :)
