Gathering darkness
gathering used as an adjective: accumulating and becoming more intense; "the deepening gloom"; "felt a deepening love"; "the gathering darkness"; "the thickening dusk" [syn: deepening, thickening]
Just offhand I translate it like "oscuridad creciente", but I bet there are some more poetic, or "intense" ways to say this in Spanish. In the case of "gathering storm" I'll go with "la tormenta que se avecina", but if someone has a good idea for "gathering darkness", like "la oscuridad que va acrecentándose paulatinamente" "la oscuridad que se acrecienta inexorablemente", "la oscuridad cada vez más profunda" "la oscuridad cada vez más cerrada" or something shorter and with more emotional impact, that'll be appreciated... (Maybe I am asking too much, but like the Spanish saw goes, "Por pedir, que no quede".) Thank y'all! :) |
Some proposals: La oscuridad que se agolpa, la oscuridad que asedia, la oscuridad que se ciñe alrededor, la oscuridad que se cierne sobre nosotros, la oscuridad que nos envuelve...
|
Muy buenas opciones, todas ellas, pero la de "que se cierne" es la que más me gusta. :applause: ¡Muchíííísimas gracias! :)

Gather means Obtener.
Then I can use that word with the following examples. I'm gathering the information from office computer. I will appreciate your correction. |
Gracias, CrOtALiTo,
Si lo que dices es: "Estoy obteniendo la información de la computadora de la oficina", o bien: "Obtengo[reúno] la información de la computadora de la oficina", Entonces yo diría: I'm gathering the information [the data] from the office's computer. (Observa que "gather" tiene varios significados. El sentido basico de "gathering" de mi original es "que se va acumulando" "que se hace más intenso".) :) |
