Names with a strong significance
Do you know any Spanish names which have a strong significance or a very obvious meaning?
Like this lady named "Dolores". She was the daughter of "Juan Fuertes" and she was married to "Carlos Barriga." So, she got quite a painful name, Sra. Doña Dolores Fuertes de Barriga. |
Painful fountain of belly?

Yup, or "Strong/Bad Belly/Stomach Pains".
Do you know of any others? Even if it is in English? I remember something like a book "The correct behavior of a Sheep" by author A. Wolf, or something of the sort. |
Elsa Litre
Elva Lazo de Cañon María Cuevas del Monte María Dolores de Cueva Habían muchos más, pero ya no me acuerdo.... :) |
¡Ah, gracias, Chileno! :D :D
¡A ver si alguien se acuerda de más! |
I used to know hundreds of these, mostly forgotten. I remember a comic where if there was a photographer, he was always called Len Scap.

Some more for the collection:
Zoila Vaca del Corral Zoila Pérez Sosa Jesús Cordero Degollado Rosa Espinoza Aurora Lechuga de Mercado Susana Alegría Dulce Paleta de Limón (In Mexico, "paleta" is a lollipop) Rolando Mota (In Mexican Spanish, "mota" is another name for marijuana and "rolar" is to pass something on from one person to another.) This is one of my cousins: Violeta Ramos de Flores. And I hope there has never really been a Doctor Mata Lozano. :D @Pablo: By the way, Spain used to have a real jewel in the government: A minister of the interior called "Mayor Oreja". ;) |

@Angélica... These are really funny (I don't remember having heard any of them before, except "Mayor Oreja... Aguirre?", I think...) @Crotalito, yes I agree with you. :) |
@Pablo: The only ones I know that exist for sure, are my cousin and the minister of the interior... but the rest of them are all possible anyway. :)

Yes, indeed. I know of one that is to me so embarrassing I would not include here, if I was that person I would have changed my name in any way I could... yet, the person would go to the grave with her name...
Interestingly enough, in the school we used to make fun of the actual names of friends, doing some alteration too... Anyhow, it is like playing with the words... something Gosciny (in Asterix) also used to do as his trademark... Asterix, Obelix and Panoramix... (sin ir más lejos) :) |

Yes but asterisk is the brand name isn't a person name right.
I have other ones. Pedro Navaja. Just is the name of a Mexican movie. That last name is very cutting right! There're more names with related with weapons. They are very strong for the people, when you go to the Civil register, and you tell him, my soon will name Anibal Cascajo. Then he says What? Jijijijiijij. Or the Rasputin last name. |
Here other name.
