Almost by sheer chance I found this excellent piece of poetry... I knew this poem from long ago... I even knew a version made into a song... yet I was impressed by the quality and intensity of delivery in this version here...



I also love the accent and the way he says "la noche está estrellada" (estrechyada)... :)

Glad that you liked it. (I listened now other versions, and actually I prefer this one to the one said by Pablo Neruda himself...) (There are several others which are also of high quality, but the person reciting these verses here sounds really genuine and sincere to me, while others, even being very professional and with great voices too, don't quite fully get into the spirit of the poem, the way he does...)
At any rate, even if he does it with "rioplatense" accent, (not quite the same as Chilean accent, right?) he sounds really good to my ear and to my soul... :)

Definitivamente no me gusta la versión de Neruda por la cual no se puede decir que tiene acento chileno, especialmente la manera que tenía el tono e inflexión tan típica de Neruda. Casi vomito cuando tuve que estudiarlo en décimo u onceavo grado (segundo o tercero medio).

Sí, la verdad es que a mí Neruda como poeta, increíble, pero como rapsoda, le tiraría tomates... (con todos mis respetos...) Probablemente no tendría "tomates" para tirárselos, pero su forma de 'entregar' me suena totalmente fuera de lugar... En fin... por lo menos, sí se puede decir que es un poeta de tomo y lomo. :)

Ya no me acuerdo de todo lo que tuve que leer en la escuela pero "La vida es un sueño", "La metamorfosis" y "El principito" me suenan bastante, pero no me acuerdo exactamente de que se tratan, solo una vaga idea.

Y no fue en décimo grado, me acordé de que fue en séptimo grado...

¿Cuántos años tenías entonces, Chileno? Es para situarme. Yo tuve que leer La vida es sueño cuando tenía unos 14/15 años. Los otros dos no eran obligatorios. De hecho, sólo era obligatoria la literatura en español -no sólo española- (salvo la asignatura del idioma que estudiaras, claro). :)

Tuve que pensar esta. Terminé el sexto cuando tenía 12, así que entre las edades de 13 y 14 tuve que leer lo que no había leído en toda mi vida. Fue una escuela pública, porque recién me habían echado de una privada...en la cual teníamos media beca y era católica. Allí se me acabó la vida cómoda.

Yes really the video is with a hight quality in the sound and the narration she did there.

There're a great diversity of poems in the red and well they are amazing for the kind of letter and narration.
They are very useful for my practice and my learning.

@CrOtALiTo, understood. I agree with you. (Have you listened to books on tape? That is a really good action, if you listen, let's say, Harry Potter narrated by Jim Dale, for example, and follow the text in English, look up any words you don't understand in a dictionary and/or ask in the forums... that will get your English level some notches up... That is one of the things I am doing, listening to a native English speaker's lecture, follow the transcription... that really helps to get you familiarized with the language...)

@Chileno & @ Irmamar, yo creo que leí "La vida es sueño" de Calderón de la Barca cuando tenía unos 12 ó 13 años, pero de motu proprio, en una edición bien barata de RTVE, que mi padre compraba por 25 pesetas (lo que equivale a 25 centavos americanos ahora, pero que quizá, con el valor adquisitivo de entonces sería lo que hoy compran 5 ó 6 dólares... o 10 Euros... por decir algo.)

Disfruté tanto con esta obra de Calderón que me aprendí páginas enteras de memoria: Hipógrifo violento que corriste parejas con el viento...

En cuanto al Principito, creo que lo he leído un par de veces en inglés, vi la película que hicieron hace más de 20 años... y lo había leído la primera vez quizá en catalán y en castellano, cuando tenía quizá 12 años... también creo que leí trozos en la versión original en francés... Le Petit Prince...
En cuanto a La Metamorfosis de Kafka, nunca he leído el libro, aunque tuve un profesor de Crítica literaria que nos dio varias clases sobre Kafka... y sonaba interesante...

Hay mucha literatura buena en muchas partes... lo importante siempre, es ENTENDERLA... :)

Por ese entonces me interesaba la metafísica solamente así que tuve que luchar al principio para leer estos libros que, por lo que recuerdo, disfruté leyendo, pero no disminuyó mi interés por el más allá o más acá... :)

Pues hablando del más allá, me has recordado que yo todavía no he leído The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, que por lo visto es toda una obra de arte... (aunque tal vez eso sea otro tema...)

But well I don't know if you remember I published before a video about as you can practice your English with a person showed in a video.
I believe that video even is in the forums.
But well there're diversity of ways as you can practice your English and raise a level for you.

Yo también disfruté con La Vida es Sueño. De hecho, la volví a leer al cabo de unos años. Y en mi casa también compraban esos libros de RTVE (no sabía el precio hasta que lo has comentado tú). Todavía tengo algunos por casa (junto con los de la Colección Austral, edición barata para estudiantes ;) ). :)
