Hi from London

Hi from London

Hola a todos! I am from London. I have been learning Spanish for over a month. Not long but I've been familiar with it for longer, working in hotels I meet lots of Spanish people who come to England in order to perfect their English. Since I have been so used to hearing it I've found pronunciation the easy part. It is one of my goals to learn at least one language in my lifetime. Spanish being a good choice because I have friends with which to practice, it's possibly one of the easiest languages for a native English speaker to learn, and I'll be able to talk communicate in 20 other countries, which is pretty cool eh? At the moment I am studying a course by Michel Thomas which has been amazing so far, and I'm using one or two websites for charts to help me with the verbs. That's it, nice to meet you.

¡Bienvenido!

Welcome!

It's fantastic you have decide to learn Spanish: it's common and widely spoken. London is very international city, and the knowledge of any language will help to advance your career.

For me the process of language learning seems like zebra: there are black strips, when a lot of work brings small results, and white ones with excellent progress. Never fret - there always will be a white strip tomorrow.

Well, our only hope is that knowing foreign languages, especially Spanish, would grant the admission straight to heaven...

Well, to heaven or again around here...
Not sure if this is the best topic to welcome Cerveza to the forums... but given that the subject has come up... this old song goes about "so many times I have been killed, so many times I have died, I have resurrected again and again... and I keep singing like a cicada..."
I include it here,

(If you have questions about the lyrics of the song... I bet Ookami can help you!) (Just kidding here... we all can help you!) :)

On an episode of Scrubs, JD imagined that Turk, who learned Spanish for his wife Carla, would now be able to talk to the workers who hung out across the road from the hospital. Once he spoke to them the workers allowed them entrance into a sort of paradise where heaven was a bbq and he had two of his wife. Later, Turk used his knowledge of the Spanish language mischievously to get favors from his wife.

Welcome to the forums cerveza.
