¿Por qué no puedo editar un mensaje antiguo? Quisiera eliminar una cosa.

Por que después de cierto tiempo (horas, días, etc.) se acaba el tiempo para poder editar tus mensajes. Solo los sysops o ayudantes de sysops pueden darte más tiempo si el sistema lo permite. De otra manera tienes que pedirle a uno de ellos para que editen lo que quieres editar.

Así es la limitación. A ver si David la quiera levantar o extender. Si no, puedes pedirnos a los moderadores que te lo quitemos como siempre.

The rule is perfect. If you post something and that thread has like 10 replies, and those replys like 40 more replies, and so on... and you edite your post, then those replies would be hanging in the air, for example.

In another forum I am on, you can edit it no matter what day it is. so a 3 month old post I made there I could edit.

Here, though, after a few days you can't edit it anymore.

Yes exactly, time before, I wanted to edit some post made a couple of hours past.
The perfect of the forums will be that if you realize a post for example the Monday and you for any mistake in your want to correct it, the genial it will be that you could recover the post and edit it.

Then you can do all the corrections that you need in the moment.

I think the editing time is appropriate.

If you make changes to some of your posts then maybe the responses to your post won't make sense anymore.

@Irma: You can edit your messages during 48 hours after you wrote them, because of what Ookami has just said, but if there is anything important you want removed, you can ask via a private message to moderators or the forum administrator to delete it. :)

Well Just I don't believe that I can edit post in the forums.

But I believe it could be a good choice.

Already you know sometimes you make mistakes in the post and later you can't remove them or modify them.

@Crotalito: Tienes dos días enteros para editar lo que escribiste mal, pero lo mejor es leer con atención lo que vas a publicar, antes de hacerlo.

Pero yo no hablaba de eliminar texto... ;)

Los otros usuarios han hablado de otros aspectos que pueden editarse en sus mensajes, así que también hay que tomarlo en cuenta. ;)
