Fotos de Isla Mujeres en México
I went to an island just 5 miles off Cancún in November for my cousin's wedding. I took a few pics, so if you'd like to see them they're in my Flickr, which can be found here.
It was a lot of fun. I had a good time snorkeling, hanging out on the beach, and just relaxing. Went to go see some cool Mayan ruins, too (Chichén Itzá) which was exciting. The only thing I didn't like too much was the area was too "American." Everybody spoke English and sold American products at American prices (or higher). I guess that's the way things are in a touristy spot where Americans frequently visit. I'd like to go to a part of Mexico that's not like that, someday. I wasn't very happy when I saw all those Ritz-Carltons and Hiltons along the beach in Cancún, because I know they are making a killing with unfair wages and charging high prices. Oh well. :( |
And I'd like to visit some of the touristy places in Mexico. Pretty much the only places I've been are totally non-touristy, where you can eat a full lunch for $30-50 pesos ($3 to 5 USD).
Great pics. I don't have time to comment on all of them, but I like the sand, palm trees, ruins and everything else. Anyway, this should be motivation enough for me to plan a trip to Cancún. BTW, did your cousin have to do any special paperwork to get married in Mexico? How did that work? |

Neat pictures.......unfortunately yes, it does all look so "Americanized". Good thing you can't americanize the Mayan ruins!
I like the "cheaper than Wal-Mart" sign. Elaina:p |
Beautiful photos
Thanks for sharing the beautiful photos. It's like taking a mini vacation just looking at them.

Also, I really miss the awesome chicken fajitas...with fresh pico de gallo. :( |
I like the incongruity between the breakfast and dinner times in this photo. :)
Oh, and btw, I never did find the cheaper than walmart one... :) |

Thanks Zach... and it´s even in English.
The following picture is pretty neat too, the low bridge/don't hit your head sign. It's pretty necessary too, as there are lots of low doorways etc in Mexico. |
