Vivir de la sopa boba
Somebody lives de la sopa boba when they don't work at all, and live in the house, doing nothing, and the rest work for you.
|
In English the phrase is to live off someone or something.
Example: He lost his job eight months ago, and now he's living off his girlfriend's salary. |

I agree with you. To freeload and to mooch off seem like good translations for vivir la sopa de boba.
To mooch (without off) is a less passive action. (He's on the corner moochin' cigarettes). |
Also, plainly, "to live at somebody else's expenses".
(In Spanish also "vivir del cuento"... or "ser un chupóptero") To be a sponger, scrounger... |
