Revolución Mexicana
The huge celebration this year was held for the 200th anniversary of Independence, but this year we're also celebrating 100 years of Mexican Revolution.
Porfirio Díaz was a brilliant general and a national hero, who stabilized social environment in the country and promoted economic growth. However, the price paid by workers and peasants was high, as they were subjugated and overexploited. Revolution started when Francisco I. Madero launched a political campaign against Díaz, fighting for clear election procedures and against reelection. Since he was incarcerated, people took arms against the government and then many movements arose to fight for specific rights of social groups.
