Namaste From India

Namaste and Hola to everybody!!

I just joined in after lurking here for about 2 days and enough was enough. :)
I been longing to learn spanish for quite sometime now but always found something or other delaying my desire.

- Absolutely no experience in Spanish speaking
- No friends/Acquaintance to interact with in Spanish either.

Hoping to learn this language soon with help/support from this forum and the members.

Thank You.

Hola and Salaam, Namaste, Unakam and Sasriyakal!
Welcome to the forums!
¡Bienvenido a los foros! :)

If you start with the most basic things and take it easy, and ask any question you may/will have, we'll help you to learn Spanish!

@ Pablo
Thanks for the warm welcome.. really makes one feel invited here.

And its Sasriyakal (or Sat Sri Akal, the chaste form in punjabi) you again misplaced -nt in place of -L :p.
Yes i did read the earlier instance of yours as well :) .

And a little bit more about myself.. I speak Hindi, Punjabi and English.

I was thinking if people like me who havent got much experience while speaking in Spanish have some kind of roadmap/plan which we can follow to get familiarized with the words/grammar and pronunciation.
I ll keep looking for sure but some guidance on that roadmap will def. help.

You're welcome...
I take that Rusty and/or Angelica can give you the best path to follow... as you may have seen on my posts I am bit "unpredictable" (sometimes) and I can be a bit rambling too... (although I try to refrain myself...)

(If I go "above your head" in Spanish, just let me know/ask.)

Probably will be a good idea for you to start with a simple course (of your choice) just to have something you can follow and/or refer back to...

When I started learning English I took a simple English grammar book and started to practice step by step... (I am still on the process, but the more you do, the more you learn...)

Thank you for the corrections... I am not sure if I will embark into the Indi, Urdu... and other Indian languages, but anything I can learn will always be good and enriching.

At any rate, I am glad you can contribute with your knowledge of India and the cultures and idiosyncrasies of that incredible country of countries... :)

A course with some interaction is helpful, but if you can't but are still motivated, buy a book on elementry Spanish grammar and vocabulary. It wih help you familiarize youself with the structure of romance languages. As an English speaker you will find that English and Spanish have a lot of vocabulary in common. Later, listen to Spanish ballads called boleros available on You Tube so that you can learn pronunciation and rhythm. Find the lyrics to the songs on line and try to ponounce the words as the singers do.
