It's one coincidence too many

It's one coincidence too many

CAn anyone explain how this structure works?
I guess it means too many coincidences.

It is usually said sarcastically, as in "I don't think it was coincidence. Just tell the truth."

"It's one too many" usually describes a condition that stretches the imagination or truth.

That was one drink too many. = I'm not in any condition to get home.
It's one coincidence too many. = I think you're telling a lie. No one bumps into any old acquaintance that many times a week.

Ok, thank you. I think I understand it.

"INCORRECT HAND. If two players have incorrect hands, one having a card too many and another having a card too few, the dealer may correct it by drawing from the hand with too many cards and giving the excess to the hand with too few. If only one player ...."

One Grave Too Many
(Diane Fallon Forensic Investigation #1)

User opinion: This was a super-fast, very interesting and gripping read. I like the character, Diane Fallon, and look forward to learning more about her and her forensic anthropology world in future entries to the series. This one's a winner.
