Hello I bid you welcome to these forums, I'll be willing to help you with your learning althoug I see in your introduction, you are a teacher at least you know English.

In fact I give English class solely high school children, I assume that is very easy sometimes, although it's hard for me some many times.

Well I hope you can make much friends here in the forums.

Have fun mean you are learning it.

Welcome Ann, I made some corrections to your text.
Where are you from? I guess you're blonde!

Bienvenida, AnnBoraney... :)
Espero que aprendas mucho por aquí... y resuelvas tus dudas lingüísticas...

AnnBoraney December 13, 2010 03:05 AM

Muchas gracias and thank you for your corrections.

I am originally from Poland. I guess it does not matter whether I am blond or not

Have a lovely day!

No, I am not a teacher, I am a translator and language expert for the above mentioned languages. I have some teaching experience but it's not my profession.
Have a lovely day!
Besos!

De nada, Ann, when I read Ookami's answer + comment I thought about all the "blonde" jokes so "popular" in America, but I guess Ookami was not aware of any other nuances of the term...

In Spain, "blond" people are looked up and considered very highly... but it is funny how words can take different meanings than what they actual mean.

For example, people from Madrid call "polacos" (Polish) the people from Barcelona because in addition to Spanish we also talk "Catalonian", which for them is like "Polish" (they have trouble understanding it...)

I am not blond, my hair is brown, lighter brown as the sun hits it harder... But I have made tactless blunders here and there in my few posts here at Tomísimo... some of them a little bit "blond" ;) :D

At any rate, ask your questions and enjoy your learning!

AnnBoraney December 14, 2010 11:35 AM

Not blonde

Muchas gracias Pablo!

I do not like jokes about blonde and I consider them "biting". Anyway, I am very "exotic blonde" because my natural hair color is brown and currently I have a nice mix of highlights of different tones. But (!) I am not blonde :D

Have a lovely day!

Don't take life too seriously. You'll never get out of it alive.

Living that aside, what I said wasn't a joke. When someone told us "alemán" or "polaco" or "ruso" we think of blue eyes, white skin and blonde hair. The three together... But that have nothing to do with my post.
Let's say I visited your blog.

Ah, now I understand!

Forgive me if I am not quite as taken up with the color of your hair. Mine is quite white or gray and will never see dye as long as I have my way. I am quite impressed with your facility for foreign languages and do extend the warmest welcome to you possible. Clearly, the words fail me to do so. Do enjoy the forum.
