Mandar a traer
Estoy viendo Handy Manny en español y acabo de oír "mandar a traer." ¿Qué significa? ¿"To order (from a store/catalog/web site)?" ¿Por qué no dije "ordenar" o "pedir"?
|
Well I don't know why, but "mandar traer" also means "to order"...maybe it's because of "modismos".
Handy Manny is Mexican, right? maybe that's why. Ordenar por catálogo = order by catalog; maybe too much for a young mind to absorb Pedir = to ask for.... not really the right conotation of what he wants to say. Usually, "pedir" would be used to mean "ask someone for" which is not what he meant. :twocents: |
Other options:
call back (command to return) send down for (send to search for) |
"Mandar traer" is mostly used when someone is assigned to bring something.
It can be applied to order from a catalog or from a store, if one has in mind that the object will be sent with a messenger. :) |
