Er, and I think I meant to type "el que" not "él que." Or maybe not. I'm confusing myself.

Er, I'd presume "tomo" or something of the sort means tome, and then -ísimo just means a larger or bigger tome?

Lo is an object pronoun meaning "it."

On a related note, when does one use a phrase such as "él que"? What's the difference between that and "lo que"? It it a subject v. object thing?

Do you know what proper nouns are in English? Same thing. Specific names of people or places, generally.

Also, adding on to what Tomisimo said, "de él" does not become "del" either.
